The New York Liberty have signed Reshanda Gray to a training camp contract. The 6’2 forward will have an opportunity to compete in training camp with the team that has been the class of the Eastern Conference each of the last three seasons.

Gray was selected by the Minnesota Lynx with the 16th overall pick in the second round of the 2015 WNBA Draft out of Cal. She was honored as an AP All-American and Pac-12 Player of the Year after her senior campaign with the Golden Bears.

During the 2015 season, Gray was sent from Minnesota to Atlanta as part of the Sylvia Fowles trade along with a first round pick and Damiris Dantas. (Dantas was re-signed by the Dream earlier this offseason.) Gray appeared in a combined 27 games that season for the Lynx and Dream.

Gray played in 28 games for the Dream in 2016, drawing five starts. She was acquired by the Connecticut Sun in January 2017 in exchange for Aneika Henry-Morello. Gray was cut several months later to make room for Adaora Elonu on the Sun’s training camp roster.

Ify Ibekwe, Kelly Faris and Jillian Alleyne were also signed to training camp contracts earlier this month. The Liberty currently have 10 players under contract and have designated Tina Charles as their core player for 2018.

Katie Smith was named head coach of the Liberty this offseason after Bill Laimbeer took over as head coach and president of basketball operations for the Las Vegas Aces.

If Charles returns to New York, the Liberty may have just one roster spot open to offer to their 2018 draft picks and training camp invitees. The Summitt’s Howard Megdal has the Liberty selecting UCLA forward Monique Billings with the 10th overall pick in his latest WNBA Draft Big Board.
