The Atlanta Dream have re-signed Damiris Dantas.

Dantas will return to Atlanta for her fourth WNBA season. She rejoined the Dream last year after sitting out the 2016 WNBA season. Dantas appeared in all 34 games, averaging 18 minutes per contest.

Dantas was selected by the Minnesota Lynx with the 12th overall pick in the first round of the 2012 WNBA Draft. She signed with Minnesota in 2014 and was sent to Atlanta during the 2015 season as part of the Sylvia Fowles trade.

“I am thrilled to announce the signing of Damiris Dantas,” head coach Nicki Collen said in Wednesday’s release. “DD has the size, skill, and strength to score in a variety of ways for us.  She can knock down the three, attack the basket off the dribble or score on the low block.”

Dantas shot just 39% from the field in 2017. The Dream signed unrestricted free agent Jessica Breland, one of the league’s more prominent midrange shooters at the four position. The Dream will hope for an uptick in Dantas’ shooting, which perhaps can be bolstered by Breland’s veteran presence and experience.

“I am excited to see how her game grows as she enters her fourth WNBA season,” Collen added.

The Dream made one of the biggest splashes of the offseason by officially re-signing Angel McCoughtry. Atlanta has been active on the free agent market, signing Renee Montgomery, Maggie Lucas and Adaora Elonu in addition to Breland.
