Indiana Fever re-sign Shenise Johnson

The Indiana Fever have re-signed Shenise Johnson.

The 5’11 wing will return to Indiana for her fourth season with the club. Johnson was acquired by the Fever in a trade with San Antonio in 2015.

Johnson appeared in 14 just games for the Fever in 2017. She suffered a torn ACL in a July practice. The injuries piled up for Indiana’s perimeter rotation in 2017 — Briann January missed the last nine games of the season (torn meniscus) and Tiffany Mitchell was shut down for the year two games later (torn cartilage and bone bruise in right knee).

Johnson, a 35.7% career three-point shooter, averaged 11.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game in 2017. She has been a steady member of Indiana’s rotation since joining the team prior to the 2015 season. Johnson scored in double figures in all five games of the 2015 WNBA Finals.

“I am ecstatic Shenise will continue with our Fever family,” said Fever head coach and general manager Pokey Chatman in Tuesday’s release. “She’s such a dynamic player, that continues to grow her game each and every year. Her efficiency and ability to play multiple positions on both ends of the floor makes her invaluable.”

Johnson underwent successful surgery in August and has been rehabbing in Indianapolis since, hoping to be ready to return to the floor in 2018.
