WNBA Free Agency Day 4 Diary

WNBA teams and players were allowed to begin negotiating deals January 15, but those deals can officially be signed now that the calendar has turned to February. Here’s a running log of what we know from February 6, which shall officially be referred to as day four of WNBA free agency:

Mystics suspend Meesseman for 2018
The Mystics have suspended Meesseman for the entire 2018 season. The move will free up a valuable roster spot and her salary will not count against the the team’s books as she sits out the 2018 season to rest and fulfill her commitment to the Belgian National Team.
Sparks sign Anderson and Grant-Allen to training camp deals
The Los Angeles Sparks have signed two more players to training camp deals — veteran Jolene Anderson and Saicha Grant-Allen. Grant-Allen was selected by the Sparks in the third round of the 2017 WNBA Draft.
Fever re-sign Hamson, Simms
The Indiana Fever have re-signed Jennifer Hamson and Jennie Simms. Both players were backups for the team in 2017, joining the team part way through the season as free agents.
Sparks re-sign Beard
The LA Sparks have re-signed reigning Defensive Player of the Year and six-time WNBA All-Defense selection Alana Beard.
