The Atlanta Dream are two spots out of playoff contention with five games remaining in the regular season. If Dream fans were hoping for Olympian Angel McCoughtry would return, they will have to wait.“If I just came back for playoffs, I don’t think that would be fair to everybody who has played the whole year,” McCoughtry told the Associated Press, “I would do it the right way, and come back next year.” Instead, McCoughtry is working out to participate in the USA Basketball camp next month, followed by a season overseas with Dynamo Kursk in Russia.

For now, McCoughtry is enjoying her time off by traveling and operating her new business, “McCoughry’s” in Atlanta. Opening the shop happened to coincide with her season off but was not planned, the AP article points out. She also has other basketball-related things in the works, such as a free youth camp later this month.

That leaves the Dream to figure it out without the veteran forward, and fast. The Dream hope to snap their eight-game losing streak against Dallas on Saturday. Atlanta will then host Seattle and Indiana before closing out the season in Phoenix on September 3. The Seattle Storm at the Chicago Sky riding winning streaks, making every game critical down the stretch.
