Training staffs are busy across the WNBA tonight. Moriah Jefferson of the San Antonio Stars and Sancho Lyttle of the Atlanta Dream have each left their respective contests already tonight.

Jefferson was on the court for San Antonio during the first half of their game against the Connecticut Sun when she suffered a head contusion that sent her immediately to the sideline. The Stars have confirmed that Jefferson will not return to the game.

Lyttle, on the other hand, had to leave the game after a hit to the face required a check-up by the training staff. After further evaluation, her injury was diagnosed as a “possible broken nose”. Though she has returned to Atlanta’s bench, she will also be unavailable for the remainder of the contest.

Lyttle was off to a good start in the game, scoring four points in 10 minutes before leaving the game. Jefferson was having a similarly efficient game for the Stars before the contusion forced her from action. Six points, three rebounds and two assists had San Antonio within striking distance before Jefferson’s departure.

The Stars went on to lose the game to Connecticut, 89-56, unable to keep pace, especially following Jefferson’s departure. Their next matchup will be at home versus the Mercury on Friday night.

Atlanta is winding down with Dallas, approaching crunch time with the score close. They will also play their next game at home on Friday, against Candice Dupree and the Indiana Fever. Lyttle has started nine games for the Dream this year, and will have a quick recovery turnaround if she is to make it number ten on Friday.
