The Atlanta Dream waived two players Sunday, center Rachel Hollivay and guard Brianna Kiesel, while Sancho Lyttle is set to return to the team this week.

But a spokesperson with the Atlanta Dream told The Summitt Sunday evening that the other roster spot will not be filled by Angel McCoughtry at this time.

Both Hollivay and Kiesel played sparingly in the 2017 season, though Hollivay earned a start. The defense-first big has a chance to catch on elsewhere, but minutes up front were going to be harder to come by with Lyttle back.

More from Atlanta Dream

Kiesel was more of a surprise, since the Dream didn’t have another player from overseas coming back in need of a roster spot. The Dream have not enjoyed the services of franchise player Angel McCoughtry this season, with the elite wing sitting out at least part of the season to rest.

When Candace Parker made a similar choice in 2015, she returned later in the season, making her debut on July 29 and playing in 16 games.

The Dream return to action Friday, June 30, taking on Parker and the Los Angeles Sparks in Atlanta.
