They say you never have a second chance to make a first impression. Lindsay Allen disagrees.

The New York Liberty announced Thursday that Epiphanny Prince had returned from her overseas commitments and will rejoin the team. But Allen, who was signed to fill a roster spot during the absence of Prince and Kia Vaughn, remains on the team. Instead, Cierra Burdick was waived.

More from New York Liberty

The Liberty originally cut Allen and kept Burdick out of camp. Allen, a second-round pick by New York in 2017, has impressed the coaching staff since re-joining the team, and occupies a critical role soaking up minutes at the point.

That’s the other major difference in the roster compared to the first time New York made this choice: Brittany Boyd is now lost for the season due to a torn achilles.

More Allen also means that Prince won’t be as pressed to serve as a de facto point guard, allowing the elite scorer to do more damage off the ball as well.

The Liberty are back in action Friday night against the Connecticut Sun at Madison Square Garden.
