The San Antonio Stars have announced the team has waived second-year forward Haley Peters to make roster room for Kayla McBride.

The 6’3 Duke grad played last season with San Antonio and appeared in 34 games, averaging 5.8 points and 2.3 rebounds in 17.5 minutes. In two games with the Stars this season, Peters averaged 4.5 points in 18.1 minutes of action.

Peters averaged 14.8 points and 5.0 rebounds with Spar Citylift Girona in the Spanish League and 13.1 points and 5.3 rebounds in EuroCup action this past offseason. Before signing with San Antonio last season, Peters spent the last two seasons in Spain after being waived by the Washington Mystics as an undrafted free agent in 2014.

Peters adds depth to any bench looking for a tough-nosed small forward who should not be left open on the perimeter. A role player by nature, Peters was a fan favorite on a struggling San Antonio team last season that was riddled with injuries.

This waiver comes as San Antonio’s Kayla McBride returns from the end of her offseason play, fresh off a decisive Turkish League Championship. San Antonio, 0-2, will tip-off their home opener against Phoenix Friday evening, 8pm EDT featured on Twitter live-stream.
