The Chicago Sky waived three players on Friday, the team has announced.

Chicago cut Yvonne Anderson, Rebekah Gardner, and Betnijah Laney, as the team tries to work its roster down to 12 by the season opener on May 14.

Of the three players waived, Laney was the only Sky draft pick, going 17th overall in 2015. She played limited minutes in eight games for Chicago last year before a knee injury cut her season short.

Gardner and Anderson, meanwhile, are still looking for their first shot at the WNBA. Gardner is a UCLA grad and signed with the Sky in March. Anderson, out of Texas, signed in April and both had been playing professionally overseas prior to joining the Sky.

The Sun added forward Lynetta Kizer to their training camp roster on Friday.

Kizer has played in the WNBA for five seasons, including stints with Tulsa, Phoenix, and Indiana. She is coming off perhaps her best season for the Fever in 2016, in which she averaged 9.6 points in 17.2 minutes over 33 total games.

Connecticut head coach and general manager Curt Miller gave his thoughts on the addition in a team release:

"“She brought a lot of energy in her first practice. Brought the communication that we’ve heard so much about from everybody she’s played with. She understands how to play. She is just going to be a fantastic mentor for J.J. (Jonquel Jones) and Morgan (Tuck).”"

The Sun waived center Jennifer Hamson to make room for Kizer on the roster.
