Becky Hammon a candidate for Milwaukee Bucks general manager position, according to report

The Milwaukee Bucks have contacted Becky Hammon about the team’s open general manager position, according to Adrian Wojarowski of The Vertical.

Wojnarowski reports that the Bucks plan on starting the interview process as soon as Monday.

Although Hammon does not have front office experience, she has spent the last three seasons alongside Gregg Popovich as an assistant for the San Antonio Spurs.

If selected, Hammon would become the first female general manager in NBA history. She is already the first full-time assistant coach and was the first head coach of an NBA Summer League team.

The Bucks have also been granted permission to speak to Trail Blazers assistant GM Bill Branch, Heat assistant GM Adam Simon, and Pistons assistant Pat Garrity, among others, according to The Vertical.

Milwaukee is looking to replace John Hammond, who recently took the GM position with the Orlando Magic. Assistant GM Justin Zanik has been running the franchise in the interim.
